Hello! I'm Chris and I'm the face behind Halfpenny's Home Scents. 

A Little about me.

I started Halfpenny's Home Scents like most candle / wax melt makers as a hobby, This hobby grew and after a little encouragement by my wonderful wife Nat and our children I decided to turn my hobby into a business.

Lockdown 2020, the year everyone will remember for years to come, For some this year was very hard and I can only imagine what some people must have gone through. It was for me however the kick up the rear I needed in life. I had spent many years in a job were I had to work long and unsociable hours, working nights and weekends meant that I struggled to spend time with my children. Lockdown meant that as my wife ran her own business I needed to reduce my hours to be home to help home school the children as many other parents did and I loved it. It not only gave me the chance to spend extra quality time with my family it also gave me the chance to do all the research I needed to turn my hobby into a business, for me it was a win, win situation.

A little about the business.

Halfpenny's Home Scents is a home based business based in the heart of Great Malvern with a wonderful view of the Malvern Hills. After doing lots of research during 2020 Halfpenny's Home Scents was established in March 2021. I put my first large order into a supplier for wax and fragrances, then another into a supplier for containers to put the candles in. I then made my first candles for sale offering them to customers of my wife's business, The feedback I received was fantastic and gave me the final push to setup my own business. Halfpenny's Home Scents is not only a business its also a passion, a hobby and something that I also do with the family. It also gives me the chance to teach my children a new skill. All our products are crafted, hand poured, labelled & packaged by ourselves at Halfpenny's Home Scents. Upon receiving your order we then hand pick, check & carefully hand package your items ourselves ready for delivery. Here at Halfpenny's Home Scents we are fully CLP compliant and insured. 

A little about our products.

Here at Halfpenny's Home Scents we offer a range of hand crafted & poured scented candles, wax melts & so much more all made with 100% natural soy wax & premium fragrance oils. We also have a natural range, these have no added colours or mica powders as we know that this sort of thing isn't everyone's cup of tea. 

Soy is a vegetable wax and is used regularly for candle making as well as to produce wax melts and tarts amongst other things. Soy wax is derived from the soy bean and is therefore 100% natural. It is a renewable, natural alternative to the more traditional products such as  paraffin wax and beeswax. Soy wax candles have a lower melting point than paraffin wax and many other types of wax, This in turn allows them to burn up to 50% longer than a paraffin wax candle. Soy candles will burn cleaner than traditional paraffin wax candles, This is because paraffin wax is also known to release soot, Soot can damage and affect the walls of your home and be bad for your health. Paraffin is made using harmful fossil fuels, which are not only bad for the environment but are also harmful to our health. As soy wax is completely plant-based and releases nothing harmful into the air on its own. When paired with paraben-free fragrance oils, you can rest assured that soy candles are a better for your health and the environment. With this in mind we source premium fragrance oils which are a blend of natural plant-based oil called essentials oils, and synthetic compounds which contain strong aromas. All our sourced fragrance oils are suitable for vegans, they are not tested on animals and are paraben free.

We also offer reed diffusers, room mists & more using the same premium fragrance's and base ingredients. You can even take your favourite fragrance with you with one of our in car diffusers. Treat yourself, a friend or a loved one to something from our range, we are sure to have something to make your home or car smell amazing.

We also offer bath bombs, soap, hand & body wash as well as lotion & more, Due to the Cosmetic rules, regulations and requirement's on creating these products we have sourced a reputable company to make these for us. The reason for this is as we are a small home based business we don't have the room or facilities to be able to adhere to the regulations. As we wanted to be able to offer these products and wanted to stay within the rules and regulations  this is why they are sourced for a reputable company. These products are still measured, mixed, poured & hand crafted for us, They are also Paraben free & Vegan friendly & are not tested on animals in any way. These products are then sent to us for us to inspect, label & package up ready for sale. 

All our packaging is recyclable & made of recycled material, Even our clamshells are fully recyclable & made of recycled PET plastic. All our tins and glasses can be washed out and reused why not turn one into a potter for your herbs.

A Friendly Little Warning.

CLP is an EU and UK regulation which requires hazardous chemicals to be classified, labelled and packaged. Although the Soy wax we use in or candles and wax melts is not a hazardous as with ANY scented candle or wax melts on the market there may be ingredients in the fragrance oil that may be hazardous. Please for you own safety do not purchase any candles or melts that don't have a CLP label.

As you can see I believe in being honest throughout so why hide anything? I see no reason to hide what I do or how I work.
